Dr. Ritva Mettänen, MD
Anyone and everyone already working or planning to work with clients who wish to lose or maintain their weight: Health coaches, personal trainers, and healthcare practitioners who want a science-led, high-standard method for supporting their clients with weight loss and long-term weight management.
Absolutely not. You'd preferably have experience working with clients and a willingness to follow evidence-based practice and scope-of-practice boundaries.
Real-life experience will not give you the same broad scientific knowledge or competence that this training will. If you’re already coaching or training clients, you take ethics seriously, you want structured competency (not “tips and tricks” or second-hand knowledge), and you’re ready to do the work required to support complex cases safely, you are the ideal candidate for the training.
This is not for people looking for quick weight-loss hacks, unverified methods, or a course to “add credentials” without applying the skills. It’s also not for anyone unwilling to work within the scope of practice limits.
Yes, absolutely. If you support clients with weight loss, plateaus, adherence, or long-term maintenance, and want clearer communication, risk awareness, and a coaching structure, this training is exactly for you.
Yes. The program is built to strengthen safety, strategy, communication, and long-term support - especially in the GLP-1 era.
Yes. The focus is not just nutrition - it’s the full complexity of obesity: behavior, stigma, medication realities, red flags, and long-term change support. Many clinicians appreciate the coaching and adherence frameworks.
Yes, if you have a relevant background and/or a clear plan to work with this clientele. You’ll be expected to apply the methods in practice.
No. This certification does not train or authorize prescribing. It trains coaching competence: communication, safety awareness, behavior change support, and working alongside medical care within professional boundaries.
